Entering the season, with rising temperatures and the use of light clothes, we uncover more our body and this desire increases. What to do when the skin appears dull, rough and lack of good tone? In this article we reveal some easy ideas to make at home so that this spring / summer season you feel comfortable in your own skin using natural ingredients, effective, full of beneficial properties for our body and respectful for our environment.
Our skin is formed by several layers. The stratum corneum, the outermost one, fulfills the functions of maintaining moisture in the skin and defending against external agents, so balancing it is a priority if we want to avoid dehydration and irritation, in addition to that devitalized and opaque aspect to which we refer in these lines.
The skin appears rough and irregular when this superficial layer accumulates dead cells unable to shed naturally, either due to excess fat, aging or imbalances or disorders of various kinds that affect this renewal, slowing it down.
The use of body scrubs helps us to clean the skin in depth, activate the circulation, promote the synthesis of collagen and eliminate those dead cells and toxins that steal the vitality of our skin, in addition to improving the reception, absorption and penetration of the ingredients.

Making our own scrub at home is not a complicated task. Fruit peels such as walnut or coconut, various salts and sugars mixed with vegetable and essential oils, can result in an effective product as well as sensually pleasurable, with the added benefit of getting involved in its preparation in a gesture of self-esteem and fun. We propose 3 different recipes, with varied ingredients, with which to treat the different areas of the body obtaining excellent results.
Spicy Body Scrub with Brown Sugar and Coconut.
This recipe is a real delight for the senses thanks to the mixture of spices and aromas used in its preparation, slightly spicy. Brown sugar is a gentle scrub as its crystals are more rounded and dissolve easily, while the coconut shell, more firm, will help us repair the most damaged areas. Both particles are easy to mix in a vegetable base of Jojoba Oil, an oil that helps us balance the hydrolipidic mantle, seborregulating the skin. Adding a spoonful of spices such as cinnamon, pepper and ginger, we give our mix some spicy notes that will also help us raise body temperature, purify and deflate the body.
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup Coconut Shell
- 1 tablespoon spice mix: Cinnamon, ginger, pepper
- 4 tablespoons Jojoba Vegetable Oil
- 3 drops of Orange Essential Oil.
Refreshing Scrub for Feet and Light Legs.
After winter, when the feet have remained hidden inside boots and closed shoes, we need to pay attention to our feet, preparing them for the season of sandals and barefoot walks along the beach. The combination of Epsom salts, rich in Magnesium, and Olive Oil, will help keep the skin hydrated, without roughness or dryness. In addition, the essential oils of mint and lemon, will give us a feeling of welcome freshness in the summer. Mix the following ingredients in a bowl and apply the mixture on feet and legs, with continuous circular movements, massaging. Put your feet in warm water and enjoy the lightness that this formula leaves on your legs and feet.
- ½ cup of Epsom Salt.
- 1 cup cold-pressed olive oil
- 2 drops of Mint Essential Oil.
- 1 drop of Lemon Essential Oil.
Oatmeal and Almond Scrub for Irritated and / or Sensitive Skin.
This scrub is ideal for dry, sensitive or irritated skin. It is also very useful for repairing the skin after the sun, since ground oats help soothe and soften it. In addition, the scent of lavender invites us to relax and feel at peace with ourselves. Mix the ingredients well until you get a homogeneous paste and apply on the skin in a quiet place, with relaxing music and tempered water, to fully enjoy the benefits.
- 1 cup ground oatmeal / ground oatmeal
- ½ cup of brown sugar
- 4 tablespoons Sweet Almond Oil.
- 3 drops of Lavender Essential Oil.
